Andrew “AJ” McKeown is an economist in the Washington, D.C. area. He spent five years on Capitol Hill. Most recently he served as an economist for Congress’ Joint Economic Committee focusing on a wide range of issues including cryptocurrency & blockchain, taxation, regulation, technology, and automation/Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). Before that, he served as an economist at the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. He is an alumnus of the Mercatus Center MA Fellowship at George Mason University and received a BS in civil engineering from Clarkson University.
He is the proud creator of a curated newsletter that covers contemporary research in economics as well as developments in quantitative analysis and political data with a few random technology and animal pictures sprinkled in. Morning Readings (every business day) contains links to articles with a short descriptive summary. Weekly Roundup links to the most popular articles from Morning Readings, a summary of an academic article or book, useful Twitter threads, and cat & dog pictures to make Friday afternoons easier. You should subscribe to both, Morning Readings and Weekly Roundup.
Outside professional life, AJ can be found at wrestling shows, doing parkour around D.C., or politely explaining the superiority of cats over dogs.
